Whether it’s making an announcement at a party, presenting to a client or taking on a Best Man role – getting up in front of a crowd is often a daunting experience. This blog is dedicated to helping you relish being asked to Say a Few Words.
My Credentials
My name is Phillip Hofmeyr. I run a few start ups (Snagsta.com & Hidden Little Gems) and am a partner at a digital agency called ideas.org. In both of these roles I have realised the importance of being comfortable ‘saying a few words’ in front of an audience – whether it’s pitching for investment or convincing a client to consider a new digital strategy.
I also spent several years at Vodafone Group where I was surrounded by consultants who spent way too much of their time with their backs to their audiences as they slowly read their text heavy slides.
I’ve organised and compared several events, including SocialMedia09 (which included Sarah Beeny & Robin Wight – president of the Engine Group) and attracted over 200 delegates.
And I have been fortunate enough to be asked to be Best Man three times and Master of Ceremonies four times.
So I can confidently say: I speak from experience.
